Over a decade, Dagong has always been specialized in the fundamental research of credit rating with focus on technology development study to form a complete set of technical research and development system including credit rating theories, methods, technologies, products and service studies.

The technical research system of Dagong credit rating is composed of the following three parts:

Dagong research institute, Dagong postdoctoral programme, data research center, the main duties include studies on fundamental theories, significant subjects and data of credit rating;

The Beijing head office primarily carries research on rating technologies of each debt tool, whereas the Shanghai head office is mainly engaged in technical research on borrowers, medium and small sized enterprises, credit risk management consultancy;

Each branch is mainly responsible for credit risk study in key industry and local region.

In the end of 2003, the Ministry of Personnel of People’s Republic of China granted Dagong to setup a postdoctoral programme, and Prof. Robert A. Mundell, the Nobel Prize winner and “Father of the Euro”, was invited as the honorary tutor. Authoritative media such as People’s Daily hold that the establishment of postdoctoral programme could be considered as a milestone of credit rating technology research in China into the era of independence, systematism and high-end R&D.

Prof. Mundell expressed much more expectations on Dagong with his inscription, “The opening of Dagong Postdoctoral Program symbolizes the ‘internationalization’ of the Chinese Credit Rating System. I believe that the harvests of the Dagong Postdoctoral Program will be beneficial to both China and world capital markets, adding value to the world economy.”
